Book Week has officially kicked off here in Australia, and I’ve had an action-packed few days with primary school visits and Pages in the Park event at Samford Village, QLD.
QLD Primary School Talks
Huge thanks to the teachers and students at Brightwater State School, where I presented to the Years 4, 5 and 6 cohort. We chatted all about my debut novel, The Feathers of Farwood and The Gripps Curse, plus my owl research behind the fiction (including some fun, owlish facts), the key elements of a good story, and insights into the storytelling process. What a hoot!

Pages in the Park, Samford Village
I sold all my on-hand copies at this wonderful event, held at John Scott Park in Samford Village on August 22.
A little rain didn’t stop this fantastic community from turning out for stall browsing, book buying, and hands-on crafts for the kids.
I joined fellow authors, including NRL legend and picture book author Sam Thaiday, on the Story Stage to share some of my novel and chat all things owls (including the local Powerful Owl) with kids, parents, and carers.
The organisers and local bookshop Baffies Oan Books did an amazing job putting this event together. I really hope it returns next year!
