Wrapping up yet another big year, I’ve been awarded a grant from the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) to support my journey as an emerging children’s author.
This initiative is a partnership between the Queensland Government, through Arts Queensland, and Sunshine Coast Council, aiming to nurture local arts and culture in regional Queensland.
This grant will allow me to take significant steps forward in developing my current middle-grade manuscript. Drawing inspiration from the natural beauty of the Sunshine Coast, the story blends adventure, mystery, and environmental themes that I hope will captivate young readers.
The funding supports key professional development activities, including immersive wildlife research (I plan to attend an ‘Owl Experience’ in the Glasshouse Mountains), and training in delivering dynamic presentations to children.
These experiences will help me create a more authentic narrative while building the skills to connect with schools and libraries in engaging and meaningful ways.
With more exciting bookish news to come (watch this space), I’m excited to continue my journey, supported by this invaluable opportunity.
