Professional Business Woman of the Year finalist – celebrating trailblazers on the Sunshine Coast

Earlier this month I was announced as a Professional Business Woman of the Year finalist as part of the Sunshine Coast Business Women’s Network (SCBWN) Awards.

The Awards feature a number of categories, from Corporate and Micro Business to Sustainability.

Living and working here on the beautiful Sunshine Coast, Queensland, I was thrilled to be named among the finalists.

Through the nomination process, I had to submit written answers and attend a face-to-face interview with a panel of judges.

This was a great opportunity to reflect on my 15-plus years’ experience in mainstream journalism, digital marketing, communications within the disability sector, tourism event management, and children’s book writing.

I was nominated for these prestigious awards by my boss, who took out the title of Corporate Business Woman of the Year in 2022. This really epitomises what the SCBWN is about – lifting up others and providing valuable connections, mentorship and support.

When I was first cutting my teeth in business journalism it was a male dominant industry. Today, I’m surrounded by incredibly talented female CEOs, managers, founders, mum athletes and trainers, mentors and more. All of them are equally inspirational and have a direct impact on the way I conduct myself, approach and seek out new opportunities.

The SCBWN Awards Gala is being held on August 10, where category winners and overall Outstanding Business Woman of the Year will be crowned.

I’m proud to have made it to this stage and be given the opportunity to share my professional journey to date, which includes climbing my way to Marketing Manager at a soon-to-be international company and pursuing a long-term career in Australian children’s book publishing (I’m working hard on this!).

Stay tuned…
